About Merrickville
Within commuting distance of Ottawa, Kingston, Montréal and Syracuse, New York, Merrickville is a great afternoon or weekend getaway for thousands of visitors each year.
Idyllically situated along the historic Rideau Canal, which was recently designated a World Heritage site in 2007, Merrickville is rich in 19th century architecture and heritage. In 1998 this Victorian village was also named Canada’s prettiest village. While having a population of only 1000, Merrickville and its immediate area are home to more than 60 artists and artisans.
A variety of local restaurants and lodging options (including campgrounds, over a dozen Bed & Breakfasts, an elegant Victorian country inn, as well as motels in neighbouring towns, only a 10-minute drive away) can accommodate every pocketbook and taste preference.
